Our Backstory
We began in 2020 selling rare tropical plants, but our customers’ biggest challenge wasn’t finding them — it was keeping them alive. Traditional potting soil compacts, traps moisture, and invites pests, leading to root rot. By January 2023, demand for our custom soil-free mix had grown so much that we pivoted entirely to potting mixes. Today, our blends for tropicals, succulents, cacti, bonsai, and orchids help houseplants thrive in any home.

Soil-Free Potting Mixes, Made for Modern Plant Care
We started Veryplants with one clear belief: indoor plants deserve better than traditional potting soil.
While outdoor plants benefit from nature’s cycles — fresh air, rainfall, microbes, and decomposing organic matter — indoor plants live in a closed system. That means stale substrates, compacted soil, poor drainage, and root rot are far too common.
We knew there had to be a better way. So we created it.

🌱 Molly’s Potting Mixes: Our First Breakthrough
Molly’s Potting Mixes were born from the idea that indoor plants in containers need a potting medium that’s fast-draining, moisture-balanced, pest-resistant, and alive with the right kind of biology.
So we went to work.

📍 Along the Way, We:
Imported, propagated, and sold thousands of tropical plants and succulents through our online shop
Tested dozens of potting mixes from big-box stores to boutique blends
Consulted with horticultural scientists, growers, and plant hobbyists
Trialled hundreds of ingredients and recipes — adjusting textures, ratios, microbes, and more
And most importantly, we listened — to the global plant community, whose passion continues to shape what we do

🌎 Where We Are Now
Today, our soil-free potting mixes are sold online and through select retailers and wholesalers. Every batch is independently lab-tested, supplier-screened, and field-verified — because we care about the details as much as our customers care about their plants.

How We Started

Unlike outdoor plants, indoor plants don't benefit from the natural forces that refresh the substrate and deliver nutrients, and are much more susceptible to root rot and other fungal diseases.
We knew that indoor plants deserved better. That motivation led to the development of Molly's Potting Mixes, our first line of potting mixes developed specifically for plants growing in containers.
