Why Poison Pear?
Poison Pear is sweet but with bite, softness with an edge, a mix of comfort and danger. I take inspiration from what hides under rocks and in dark forests, as well as the cute and fluffy and nerdy.
I draw every print by hand, and screen print using water-based inks. With the exception of t-shirts and baby bodysuits, I also sew everything as well. It’s a labour of love, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It all started with a scarf. I made a few scarves as gifts one year, with a button to keep it closed. I got a ton of compliments from friends and family so decided to try selling them at a local art fair. Poison Pear was registered in 2010, beginning with those scarves, and a few pouches, all made in my tiny spare room. I continued adding to my offering, selling on Etsy and at craft shows, and after a few years, I was ready to jump into clothing. The response was incredible, with several repeat customers who still purchase from me today.
Meet Beth
Beth is the principle designer and maker behind Poison Pear. She studied Fine Art at NSCAD University, majoring in ceramics and minoring in drawing, but taking photography and textiles classes along the way, including screen printing. With this love of functional art, it was screen printing and sewing she kept doing after graduation, and she soon snagged a job with a clothing company where her sewing and designing skills were strengthened, and soon the idea to start something new was born.
