About Us
My name is Eduard Vovkotrub. For four years, I worked professionally with large-format tiles. Early in my career, I needed a logo for my business. The first logo, which lasted for about four weeks, was "EDplitka," symbolizing Eduard the Tiler, or anything related to tiling. The term "plitka" comes from the Ukrainian word for tile, "плитка." Later, I changed it to "EDPLIT," a name humorously explained by a foreman I worked with as "The Father of All Tiles."

As a craftsman, like many others, I dreamed of creating a special tile button that would showcase my skill level. One of my clients once asked me to make two tile buttons. At that time, no internal systems were available for purchase. Craftsmen improvised, creating visually appealing exteriors but using makeshift internal components like rulers, springs, and metal pieces. It took me a week to make those two buttons because I had to devise a working mechanism from scratch.

Five months after the full-scale invasion, I realized the urgent need to develop an internal mechanism to ease the work of craftsmen. The country was facing tough times, and many clients who had commissioned work before the war hadn't paid me for over six months, as they had left Kyiv. With a wife, two children, and only $3,000, I told my wife we needed to invest this money in my idea, despite our uncertain.

For two years, I invested every penny I earned into this idea and continue to do so to this day. With my time and finances, I took a huge risk to learn 3D modeling. Surprisingly, I quickly got the hang of it and began developing the mechanism. The main idea was for the mechanism to attach to the tile rather than the installation, and I succeeded.

The development process spanned two years, involving numerous changes and improvements. I shared this idea with my colleague, Vova Volosko, who strongly encouraged me to present it at "League of Masters," an annual event attended by many craftsmen and foremen. As it was a new concept, our presentation drew an audience of about 250 people.

The event was a great success. Since then, sales have begun to pick up. In the first months, we sold more than 500+ sets, domestically and internationally. We realized that people found our product fascinating. This inspired us to launch a product line under the EDPLIT brand, including hatches, buttons, exhausts, and a concealed toilet paper holder. Our goal is for these products to be used worldwide.
