The story begins with Ashley Ferraro (President) and Raphael Costa (COO); they met and fell in love at Florida Gulf Coast University in 2008. Ashley, from the United States and Rapha, from Brazil, had very different backgrounds and beliefs, but they had one thing in common – their love of sports and a dream to change the world.

Ashley and Rapha took many trips to Brazil before Dona Jo opened for business. Ashley was inspired by the vibrant colors, bold patterns and free spirited Brazilian culture. Raphael was excited to start a business in the US, a dream he always had. So, in 2013 out of their 1 bedroom apartment in Pittsburgh, PA they brought their vision of Dona Jo to life. It was to cultivate a community of healthy, active and fashion-forward individuals who were looking to express themselves through stylish activewear.

So, we are sure you are wondering - who is Dona Jo? Dona Jo is Rapha’s grandmother’s nickname. She is the perfect representation of the brand; strong, influential, fashionable, healthy, active and Brazilian. Since the start, we have attracted a community of individual who continue to inspire and motivate us each and every day through their active, healthy and fashionable lifestyle.

It all started with a printed running legging and 4 seamstresses in Brazil. Now, 12 years later, we have an entire catalog of activewear for tennis, pickleball, running enthusiasts and more. Our team of over 100 talented and hardworking individuals in the United States and Brazil are what brings the brand to life everyday.
