Acumen Collection

Acumen Collection was founded by Michael Farrer in 2018 and was driven by a lack of high quality furniture to rival mass produced alternatives.

Michael had a passion for interior design and sustainability so when he saw a need for sustainably sourced handmade furniture with a personal approach Acumen Collection was born.

Since 2018, Michael has built a fully functioning workshop that can produce bespoke furniture according to the specification received. From turning a few reclaimed scaffold boards into a fully functioning dining table or re-purposing an old railway sleeper into an industrial farmhouse bench, we have the tools and facilities to achieve whatever is required. Michael has also built up strong relationships with UK based workshops and a handful of world leading home furniture brands and manufacturers and gradually expanded from rustic stools to offer home office, living and dining room furniture.

At Acumen Collection we believe that sustainably sourced furniture should be available in the exact style, finish and size you and your home or commercial premises require. Therefore, it is our goal to not just deliver a piece of furniture at your door step, but make it easy for you to be yourself and create exactly the home you want to have. We know how to make great furniture, but it is you who gives it the last bit of personality and soul. You can therefore get completely involved in the design process of your furniture solutions. This makes it possible for us to deliver original and unique products, that are customised only to you. Only the sky is the limit!

Out most valuable asset is the people we work with. We believe that supporting small businesses and by definition the UK economy we are contributing to a fairer society. Thats why we work with a number of craftsmen who make all of our made to measure products by hand, with the passion that only people who love their craft possess. We want you to really know their stories so that you fall in love with their art, and to highlight all the work that goes into each individual piece. What materials do they use, where are their workshops, and how did they become such competent craftsmen.

Here at Acumen Collection, most of the images used to showcase our products are our own as we strive to show our products at their best. Depending on the lighting and existing furnishing in your home, you may find that some products look lighter or darker once they are delivered by our one or two-man home delivery service.

As an added precaution, we do offer samples for our made to order timber products so if unsure of a wax or oil finish, please search for our sample product page and we will send them out in a few days.

Please also note that all products stocked by Acumen Collection may have slight variations with no two products being an identical match for each other with slight variances between each. If you have made an order from Acumen Collection in the past and are looking to get an additional item please contact us first as finishes and the type of timber used over time may differ.
